I was born in Preston and am disgusted with it now, lots of loutish behaviour by both young and old , buildings that were once beautiful are now derelict, many drug affected and homeless people in the town centre, I felt unsafe even in populated areas.

I was visiting family so that was good, It has tried to be a cafe society and there are some nice small cafe's and artisan bars but the people are depressing, seem happy to walk round eating burgers and drinking cans of beer. like all towns lots of empty properties, charity shops etc. Will be good when the Harris museum opens again next year.

I only visit when I have to, visiting family.

I only visit when I have to, visiting family. I have made several trips over four years. First impression was of a grubby town, streets and public spaces covered in litter. Sprawling industrial parks on the outskirts. Ubiquitous pavement parking makes it dangerous pulling out of residential side streets. I have found little of cultural interest to do in the city, apart from the museum, which has been closed for refurbishment. No decent venues for live music or theatre that I am aware of. Easy enough to get a basic and pleasant meal from the usual restaurant chains. I haven't made much attempt to research into more interesting venues for eating out, apart from RK dining which is great for vegetarian/Asian takeaways. I think there is a good range of different cuisines if you look for it. I guess the University is Preston's saving grace from being a purely industrial town. It is reasonably easy to navigate the city centre on foot or by car, and regular buses. It does have a good number of well maintained and accessible public parks, and a good walking route via the Guild wheel. Brockholes is a good place for nature, although close to a motorway. A range of pleasant areas of Lancashire countryside are a short drive outside city.

    Preston is a lovely town.

Preston is a lovely town. I visit because I have close family there, but I wouldn't say it is a hub for tourists. There are fantastic attractions, like Hoghton Tower, and the downtown area is very quaint. When with family, we usually go to a great fairly local pub or other restaurant for lunch/dinner, and there are plenty of those with great food and ambiance. I love going for walks in the local area.

Good for the price The hotel was conveniently located and easy to find, check-in was quick and we were allocated 2 rooms near each other on the ground floor as we requested. The rooms are fairly standard but spacious with tea/Coffee making facilities. The bathroom was clean and the beds comfortable. We were not disturbed by any noises. Breakfast was very good, with a large choice and plenty of seating. It was handy to have the Hungary Horse next door - cheap and cheerful food but convenient if you're just on a stopover.

We arrived very early but this was not a problem as our room was almost ready which was a bonus for us to be able to get into the room much earlier than expected, very much appreciated. Room was just right for what we needed, very clean and tidy, toiletries in the bathroom was a nice touch. We used the kitchen downstairs the following morning to have breakfast which was great Location was perfect for us, 4 minute walk if that to the train station & a couple more minutes to the nearest shopping centre.

Great location, very clean, quiet and comfortable. Had everything I needed for a great weeks stay. Coffee pods a welcomed touch, and the bed/bed linens made for a very comfortable nights sleep. Train station was an easy 7 minutes walk, which made my trips to Liverpool, Blackpool, Manchester and Lancaster so easy. Appreciated having a washer/dryer to help get laundry done quickly. As a solo female traveler I felt very safe and would definitely recommend Winckley Chambers.

Everything. The staff were incredibly kind, understanding and chill. The decor was really nice, the beds were COMFY! The breakfast was very nice. A very nice touch that I love is they had things bought from local independent businesses. They even let us take some drinks and pastries for the journey home! And the price was a LOT cheaper than other "budget" hotels. Definitely staying here again! Also phone them directly if you want a better price!

Our anticipation to reconnect with loved ones in the northwest was met with the prospect of cozying up at Jam Pot Cottage, offering respite from the inevitable rain. The kitchen boasted commendable amenities, including a spacious refrigerator, microwave, and gas hob, accompanied by a complete set of cookware. The bathroom featured convenient fixtures and a nearly new shower curtain, while the wood burning stove added warmth to the living area.

Friendly and helpful staff. Good size clean room with a comfortable bed, having quality linen. There was a good sized tv plus iron and ironing board, hairdryer and tray with complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits plus kettle and crockery. Bathroom was clean with soft towels, hand and body liquid wash plus box of tissues and sufficient toilet rolls. Overall a very pleasant stay and will happily stay at this hotel again.

The location was ideal for what I wanted as I needed to attend some performances held on the Market Square in Preston City Centre. I like the self check-in side of things, as it allowed independence. It was also very near to the train station and the lovely little park in front of the building was ideal to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

The hotel was a traditional non-chain establishment in suburban Preston. Care had been taken to clean it very well and the room plus areas I saw were spotless. The service on arrival was everything I needed. The full English breakfast was excellently presented, well cooked and tasty. All staff that I met were cheerful and professional.
